Straddie sticks out into the East Australia Ocean Current (yep that’s the one from Finding Nemo) so you can sit on the cliff tops at Point Lookout and watch the dolphins, manta rays, turtles and whales as they cruise past.
The island is right next to Brisbane and you take a car ferry across Moreton Bay to get there. It’s possible to go there for a weekend from Sydney but three days will give you more time to enjoy it. Because of the size of the island (It’s 32km long and the second largest sand island in the world) you’ll need access to a car to get around. We normally fly to Brisbane and rent a car from there although this trip we’re driving up from Sydney so we’ve got room for all of Nicole’s shoes…
We’ve created this site to give you all the information you’ll need about the big day, travel, accommodation, things to do on Straddie, the weather, facilities and caring for the island.
Hope to see you on Straddie!
Nicole & Michael
